Von Maur

Von Maur didn't have any outside displays so I ventured into the store. Immediately this display caught my eye. I love the Fossil/vintage feel of the display.
I love how Von Maur displayed their merchandise on small boxes and a circular luggage bag, which created good contrast.

The props really pull the display together.

My favorite part of the display was the small sign at the bottom that said "Please touch the merchandise!" Often when going into stores you have the feeling that you can't touch anything but often touching something makes a customer want to buy it.

Overall I am very impressed with their in store display!

White House|Black Market

I enjoyed White House Black Market's window display. Very simplistic but something about it just caught my eye.

They used the entire window space creating good proportion. The window had great rhythm, my eye could easily follow the entire display.

I loved how they displayed clothing by hanging them on a rod, just like they would be inside someone' closet. The rod also was the focal point of the display.
I loved the placement of the sign. It grabbed my attention as I walked by.
White House Black Market achieved unity with their display!

Chico's

Chico's display caught my eye because of their signage, "New Style Adventures". Anything with the word adventure can grab my attention.

Chico's used three mannequins in the front that created good proportion and helped show how big the window really was.

They also had more mannequins in the back.

Chico's used a graphic of a model to create a background in order to help the passerby be able to focus on the window display and block out the distractions of the store.

Going with the adventure theme, Chico's displayed their most adventure like clothing, tropicals, prints, etc..

The Loft

The next stop on my list was The Loft.

The Loft's central theme was spring! What a great theme to have, everyone is looking forward to warm weather and a reason to wear a cute dress.

The mannequins were different heights which created rhythm, it helped guide the eye throughout the display.

The Loft also used dominant signage in the display. The sign was large enough to grab the attention of the people walking or driving by.  The display created balance with a mix of mannequins and graphics.

The Loft's window really made me want to go inside and browse!

Francesca's

It was so hard to take a picture without a glare, I did the best I could!

Francesca's had a cute window display. I liked how they mixed clothing merchandise with their decor merchandise. It helps to show the customer all the different products they offer. The lighting in the corner was unique and went well with their aesthetic.

The store also played with the upcoming holiday by adding Easter bunny ears to the window. Francesca's also displayed their spring dresses which was a great idea because now that the weather is nice everyone will be looking for cute dresses to wear.

I couldn't take a picture of the whole display because of the glare, but Francesca's display had balance and rhythm.

Week 8

This was the last full of week of no shopping. Personally I'm glad it's coming to a close. I technically bought some items this week but it was out of necessity.

The first item I bought was a present for my friend. Her birthday is April 4th and I had to get her a gift. I can't say what it is in case she reads this, but I'm super excited to give it to her. I love buying presents for people.

The second thing I bought was a last second bridesmaid dress. The wedding is April 4th, and I bought a dress in January. Well this week I was trying it on to get some alterations and it just wasn't going to work. So I had to run to Macy's and pick out a new dress in a similar color.

Other than those two things, I successful avoiding buying something this week.

Week 7

It's officially spring!

...Which made it hard to not buy any clothes this week...

Even though at times it's difficult to not purchase an item I want, not buying clothes is sort of empowering. I feel like I'm saving a lot of money which makes me happy. I love to travel so I just think of all the money that could go towards traveling expenses.

I keep telling myself that March is almost over and then I can buy all the spring clothes that I want.

Hopefully I can stay strong through week 8.

Week 6

I skipped last weeks blog post, it was spring break and my mind had officially checked out. I spent my spring break in the beautiful California. I did buy two things, I was in Cali and I couldn't resist.

I bought this shirt from Tilly's. I felt like it gave off a Cali vibe and I had to have it.

I've always wanted a California mug. I'm obsessed with Cali and mugs, so when I found this mug at Starbucks I couldn't pass it up.

Hopefully this week I will do better and resist buying things!

Anthropology

Anthropology always has unique displays! They never let me down. Every time I see a visual they created, I want to buy everything displayed. Anthro doesn't just sell products, it sells a lifestyle.

Last week I was shopping at Anthropology and my eye kept wandering back to this visual. I loved how they didn't place the tables the same way. Sometimes merchandise on the bottom table is over looked. By moving the bottom table the opposite direction of the top table it is almost impossible to glance over the lower merchandise.

Most of the merchandise on the table was folded, but the articles of clothing we are all folded a different way, an easy way to switch up a table.
Some of the merchandise was placed in bowls on top of the table too.

The reeds provided a background for the mannequin. The rest of the store was blocked out by the plants, making sure there were no distractions and that the mannequin was the focal point of the display.

Anthropology embodies simplicity and creativity.
Can I just live in the store?

Urban Outfitters

I love going into Urban Outfitters, their clothes are so cool and displays are chic and minimalistic.

I love how the merchandise is displayed. The shadow boxes add dimension and are really eye catching.

The display has great rhythm. My eye could easily vision easily flowed from one item to the next.

Emphasis was created with size, repetition and contrast.

I loved with fixtures that were hanging in front of the display. It attracted my eye and made me want to have them hanging in my room.

Urban's display used all the principles of design and created unity.
